FOUNDERS

Tom Thompson learned the value of hard work long before he entered the financial industry. Growing up in Nashville, he spent his teenage years mowing lawns, earning enough money to buy his first car, a TransAm. He was slowly discovering that success was built through consistency, discipline, and a vision. After spending nearly three decades in retail, Tom entered the financial services industry in 2003, starting a career with a cooperate institution. 

Over the next 12 years, he built lasting relationships with hundreds of families by listening to their stories before offering advice. Tom became increasingly frustrated by corporate environments that prioritized quotas and product sales over the people sitting across the table.

When Tom met Cheri, they quickly discovered their shared values of honesty, determination, and a commitment to their communities. She had been raised in a military family, moving often and learning resilience through each new beginning. She discovered a passion for music and pursued a career, achieving her dream of becoming a professional violinist, performing with accomplished musicians, teaching aspiring performers, and building a successful career in Nashville. 

Today, Tom and Cheri lead Thompson Safe Retirement with intention and conviction. Tom, determined to serve his clients on his own terms, left the corporate sector to pursue independence. Together, they have cultivated a practice rooted in honesty, integrity, and humanity. Outside the office, Tom and Cheri enjoy life on their fifty-acre property outside Nashville. They believe everyone has their own version of fifty acres and their own dream to pursue. Their mission is to help every client build a financial strategy that gives them the freedom to create it.
